SOPHIA CENTER

The Sophia Center produces craft and clothing projects under commission and for retail sale. Participation in these projects offers employees the opportunity to explore their creative potential which can be utilized in making life, both at work and at home, less stressful and routine, making life more fulfilling for self and more community oriented. Using their own creativity, employees are involved in the development of unique products made in Waterbury.

Sophia Center Goal:

To formulate future direction/endeavors which incorporate the fullness of talents and skills of involved participants and respects multicultural differences, through production of jewelry, crafts and clothing for sale. It operates the Sophia Center, which produces clothing, jewelry, and craft projects under commission or for sale. A variety of distribution outlets supplement program revenue. When appropriate, a worker from the assembly center is invited to help produce a craft for the Sophia Center. She is trained by Sophia staff with the intent of offering an exploration of creative potentiality and is encouraged to consider sharing the experience with others. Developing and utilizing talents may make life less stressful, more fulfilling, and more outward oriented.
